Welcome to our web site. We invite you to join us on a unique birding experience in one of South Africa’s most beautiful regions – the Garden Route and the spectacular, arid Karoo. As a keen birdwatcher and nature lover you are no doubt aware that South Africa offers some of the finest bird watching in the world. With its unspoilt land it is fast becoming one of the most popular holiday destinations for bird and nature lovers.
Started three years ago
African Bird Safaris was set up to satisfy the needs of birders,
both local and international, expanding their knowledge of the birds of
the Garden Route and the Karoo. The
emphasis is towards overseas birders who
are in most cases totally unaware what the region has to offer, not only in
birdlife but also in scenic beauty, diverse flora and its place in the history
of South Africa. To personalize the
tours we only take small groups – maximum 6 people minimum 2 persons.
The area is malaria
free, the climate is temperate along the coast and warm to hot
inland. It is sparsely
populated, safe and possesses good roads .A lot of birding is done en route.
None of the walks are too strenuous – but because of the diversity of
habitat – all interesting.
